Melvin the slime monster sat at his desk, his gooey fingers sluggishly typing on the keyboard. The air-conditioning had broken down, and the office felt like a furnace. Droplets of slime dripped onto his desk as he stared blankly at the screen. He had an urgent report to finish, but his brain felt like it was melting. “Why did I ever take this job?” he groaned. Just then, a strange email popped up on his screen, one that could change everything.

The complication

  1. Melvin discovers that the strange email contains a secret mission that requires him to leave his office immediately, but he is unsure if he should abandon his report.
  2. The email is actually a trap set by a rival slime monster who wants to sabotage Melvin's career, and he must figure out how to respond without falling into the trap.
  3. As Melvin reads the email, the air-conditioning system suddenly starts malfunctioning even more, causing the temperature to rise dangerously high, which threatens to turn him into a puddle of goo.

Sentence starters

  1. Just as Melvin was about to close the email window in frustration, he noticed something peculiar at the bottom of the message.
  2. With a shudder of anxiety coursing through his gooey body, Melvin realised this could be an opportunity he couldn't ignore.
