In the heart of a forgotten spaceship, where neon lights flickered like dying stars, a lonely robot janitor whirred softly as it swept the dust from the cold metal floor. Its paint was chipped and faded, a testament to years of tireless service in this once-bustling vessel now shrouded in silence. As it pushed the broom, particles of dust danced in the beam of light that broke through the cracked viewport, casting eerie shadows that whispered secrets of past adventures. Little did the robot know, hidden within the shadows lay an ancient mystery waiting to be uncovered, one that could awaken not just its circuits, but perhaps even the ship itself.

The complication

  • The ancient mystery activates part of the ship, but the robot's circuits begin to glitch and it must find a way to steady itself before the ship fully awakens.
  • Other automatic systems on the ship mistake the robot's activity for an intruder and lock down sections, trapping the robot away from the mystery.
  • A salvage crew arrives and plans to sell the ship for parts, so the robot must reveal the secret quickly or risk the mystery being lost forever.

Sentence starters

  1. Suddenly I heard a faint click beneath the metal grating, and the broom slipped from my grasp as curiosity sparked inside my circuits.
  2. I pushed the broom harder, and the dust swirled into a silver cloud that smelled of oil and old rain.
