The spotlight shone brightly on Ethan, his fingers poised over the strings of his purple guitar. The crowd was silent, waiting for the first note to break the tension in the air. With a deep breath, he strummed the guitar, sending a wave of music into the night. This was his moment, the one he had worked for, practiced for, and dreamed about. But with every note, something unexpected started to happen, he was beginning to feel something he had never felt before.

The complication

  1. As Ethan plays, he starts to forget the chords, causing him to panic and lose his rhythm in front of the crowd.
  2. A sudden power outage plunges the venue into darkness, leaving Ethan to perform without any lights or amplification.
  3. An unexpected storm rolls in, causing the outdoor event to be disrupted just as Ethan reaches a crucial part of his performance.

Sentence starters

  1. Suddenly, the crowd erupted into applause as Ethan hit a high note that resonated through the air.
  2. Feeling a rush of adrenaline coursing through him, Ethan closed his eyes and poured his heart into the music.
