We ran through the metallic streets, our footsteps echoing against the towering buildings as energy crackled in the air around us. Behind us, the city, the heart of the Arcane Empire, was alive with power, and it was chasing us. My friends and I had never meant to get caught up in this mess. We were just ordinary people, but now, we were fugitives, hunted by forces we didn’t understand. Purple energy swirled around our pursuers as the drew near. There was no turning back. The Temple of Ascendance loomed ahead, and if we couldn’t make it there in time, all was lost.

The complication

  1. As we sprint towards the Temple of Ascendance, a sudden burst of purple energy envelops one of my friends, leaving them immobilised and vulnerable to capture.
  2. Just as we reach the temple gates, we discover that they are sealed by an ancient spell, requiring a password only known to the Empire's leaders.
  3. A rival group of rebels appears, claiming to have the knowledge needed to unlock the temple but demanding our help in return for their assistance.
