Lina carefully stepped onto the wooden planks, feeling them sway beneath her feet. All around her, colourful stalls hung from enormous hot air balloons, bobbing gently in the sky. The scent of sweet fruit and sizzling spices filled the air as merchants called out their special deals. A strange, humming machine floated past, carrying baskets of glowing purple fruit. “Welcome to the Floating Market!” a voice behind her said. Lina turned, wondering who, or what, she would meet next.

The complication

  1. As Lina explores the Floating Market, she accidentally bumps into a merchant who is carrying a basket of the glowing purple fruit, causing it to spill everywhere and attracting the attention of a mysterious figure.
  2. The humming machine suddenly malfunctions, sending baskets of fruit tumbling down towards the market below, and Lina must find a way to help before someone gets hurt.
  3. A sudden gust of wind causes one of the hot air balloons to drift away with Lina’s favourite toy inside, forcing her to decide whether to chase after it or continue exploring the market.

Sentence starters

  1. Later, as she wandered further into the market, Lina spotted an unusual stall filled with shimmering trinkets.
  2. The sweet scent of ripe mangoes wafted through the air as Lina approached a friendly merchant.
