I stood at the edge of the labyrinth, staring down at the twisting stone corridors ahead. The air was thick with mystery and tension, and the faint sound of something moving in the dark sent shivers down my spine. Deep inside, I knew what I was about to face, an ancient creature, half-man, half-beast, and as powerful as any myth. The Minotaur. I had heard the stories, seen the sketches in dusty old books, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer size of it. The beast’s eyes glowed from the shadows, and I felt its gaze on me, daring me to take one more step into its domain. But I had no choice. The labyrinth held the answers to everything I had been searching for, and I was determined to find them.

The complication

  • The Minotaur notices I am not alone and realises I carry an artefact it wants, forcing me to decide whether to fight or bargain.
  • A collapsing corridor separates me from the labyrinth entrance, trapping me deeper inside as unseen traps activate.
  • My memories begin to fade as I move through the labyrinth and I must recover a forgotten clue before I can reach the centre.

Sentence starters

  1. Action opener: I stepped forward and pressed my palm to the cold stone wall, feeling for hidden grooves or a faint breeze.
  2. Meanwhile, the Minotaur shifted in the shadows and the sound of its breath rolled through the corridors like distant thunder.
