Minnie’s Magical Garden Adventure

Adventure

Minnie’s Magical Garden Adventure is a free, NAPLAN-aligned adventure writing resource for Australian primary students. It includes a story starter, complication, tiered vocabulary and scaffolds mapped to the Australian Curriculum (AC9).

Minnie was a curious cat and wandered down the garden path, her tail flicking with excitement as she explored the colourful flowers that bloomed all around her. The air smelled sweet and fresh, with hints of lavender, roses, and daisies. She padded along the stones, her small paws light on the grass, but something felt different today. The flowers—pink, purple, and yellow—seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. Minnie’s green eyes widened as the flowers began to glow. Her whiskers twitched with curiosity as she stepped closer to the glowing blossoms, feeling a strange pull to explore deeper into the magical garden.

The complication

  1. The glowing flowers grow bigger and bigger, blocking the path ahead. Minnie finds herself surrounded by a magical maze of petals and stems, unsure how to continue.
  2. A tiny bird flies down and lands on a glowing flower, and Minnie, unable to resist, decides to chase it. But the garden is so big, and the bird seems to vanish into the maze of flowers.
  3. A breeze blows through the garden, causing the flowers to float into the air. Minnie watches, wide-eyed, as the garden changes into a magical maze, and she must figure out how to find her way through.
