Lena had never seen a clock tower that was so big. It stood alone in the middle of the golden field, its ancient hands ticking slowly, as if counting down to something important. The wooden door at the base creaked open, revealing a staircase spiralling into darkness. A gust of wind whispered through the tall grass, carrying a voice that seemed to call her name. Was this a dream? Or was the Tower of Lost Time waiting for her to uncover its secrets?

The complication

  1. As Lena steps inside, she finds that the staircase leads to a hidden chamber filled with ancient clocks that seem to tick in unison, creating an eerie melody that makes her uneasy.
  2. Suddenly, the door slams shut behind her, trapping Lena inside the clock tower as she hears whispers growing louder, urging her to reveal the secrets of time.
  3. While exploring the chamber, Lena accidentally activates a mysterious mechanism that transports her back in time to a moment when the clock tower was first built.

Sentence starters

  1. Just as Lena took a deep breath and stepped onto the first stair, she felt a chill run down her spine.
  2. The air crackled with anticipation as shadows danced along the walls of the chamber.
