The Day That Never Ended
Fantasy
The Day That Never Ended is a free, NAPLAN-aligned fantasy writing resource for Australian primary students. It includes a story starter, complication, tiered vocabulary and scaffolds mapped to the Australian Curriculum (AC9).
Ethan had always hated Mondays, but this one felt different. As he sat on his bed, flipping through the calendar, he realised something strange. The date wouldn’t change. Each time he turned the page, the same numbers stared back at him: 28th. Over and over again, it was the 28th. And the clocks... they all kept ticking, but the time never moved. What was happening?
The complication
- Ethan tries to go to sleep to escape the day, but when he wakes up, it’s still the 28th!
- The clocks seem to be watching him, and sometimes the hands spin in reverse.
- Ethan discovers he’s not the only one stuck in time—his friends and family can’t remember anything different.
